Laura & James - "We hired a boat so we could take the guests on a mini tour of Loch Lomond"

Date: 4th September, 2010
Venue: Lodge on the Loch, Luss

More often than not it is the bride who undertakes the job of wedding planner when it comes to organising the big day but Laura and James arranged their wedding together, “James was amazing, he wanted to be part of the planning process and we planned everything together which made it much less stressful for me. My mum was fantastic too, she came with me to pick my dress, ran around collecting things for us and made me laugh on the day!”

Despite having help from her nearest and dearest when organising the big day, planning the wedding was still no walk in the park, “I think the most difficult part of organising everything was the last two weeks before the wedding when we had to arrange the table plan and finalise everything. Getting the invites out was hard work too, I would recommend emailing invites to people, it’s much easier!”

The wedding had a classy scheme of blue and diamonds which the couple used throughout the ceremony and reception, “I scattered Swarovski crystals on all the tables to add some sparkle and there were blue sparkly cupcakes for the girls’ favours and a personalised bottle of butterscotch liqueur for the boys. I wanted an element of fun too so I had flip flops for all the ladies to change into for dancing,” says Laura.

The couple even arranged an extra treat for their guests, “We hired a boat so we could take the guests on a mini tour of Loch Lomond. James and I went on first with the best men and bridesmaids and it was really lovely, it will always be a fond memory for us.”

Transport...
Rather than a conventional wedding car, Laura and James opted to use a boat for their transport which was in keeping with the location.

The Cake...
Laura and James selected a classic five tier wedding cake iced in crisp white and adorned with sugar decorations and deep blue and white ribbons.

The Favours
The girls were given sparkling blue cupcakes and some flip flops to make sure that they were suitably attired for the dancing.

Wow... that Dress!
Laura went for this vintage glam strapless gown and kept the accesories simple and chic as the dress’ lace overlay was a statement in its own right. All she added was a simple tiara and pearl dropper necklace.
