Jan & Glenn- "As we travelled up the castle the locals were all cheering and clapping!"
Date: 7th July 2010
Venue: Malcesine Castle, Lake Garda, Italy
Jan and Glenn decided to jet off for their wedding day and opted to get married in the beautiful Malcesine in Verona, Italy. Malcesine Castle is a stunning medieval venue and, with its beautiful grounds and views over the Lake Garda, it is the perfect spot for a romantic Italian ceremony. However, this was more than just a gorgeous wedding spot for this couple, it has special sentimental value as back in 2008 this was the exact place that Glenn popped
the question. “He waited
until we were all alone
and then got down on one knee and asked me,” Jan tells us, “It was very emotional. He didn’t have a ring so we got to choose that together when we got home.”
Unlike many brides Jan didn’t get any pre-wedding jitters and felt very calm in the build up to the big day, “The photographer said I was the most relaxed bride she had ever seen!” She laughs. The couple opted to have a small, intimate ceremony with only seven guests in attendance. Jan and Glenn read the standard official vows in the ceremony and then each read a piece that they had written about the other which made everyone, including their wedding photographer, get more than a little emotional!
This small but perfectly formed wedding was exactly what the couple had hoped for and they had a wonderful day, “The whole experience was just perfect,” Jan says. “As I was travelling up to the castle the locals were all cheering and clapping which was lovely. The ceremony was just what we wanted, the setting was spectacular and the wedding meal delicious!” What more could a girl ask for?!
Transport...
Jan and Glenn arrived at their venue in a tuk tuk
which the manager of a local restaurant loaned to
them.
The Venue
Jan and Glenn had their main ceremony in a
medieval castle in Italy with seven guests in
attendance. When they got home they had a large
reception at Seamill Hydro.
The Flowers...
White roses were used throughout the ceremony
and were present in Jan’s bouquet and a single
bloom was used as Glenn’s buttonhole.
Wow... that Dress!
Lucky Jan got to live out most brides’ dream and
got to wear her wedding dress twice as she wore
it at both the Italian ceremony and the Scottish
reception. Jan went for a strapless gown with
peaked edges and set it off with simple pearls.
