Michelle & David - "Once the organ started to play it all started to feel real "

Date: 2nd of May
Venue: Lochside House Hotel, New Cumnock

It really was love at first sight for Michelle and David who met while travelling in Australia, “I was working over there as a Nanny and he had just arrived to start travelling the Coast,” says Michelle. “I met him on his third day and after that he never left Sydney! After my visa expired we travelled Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia together for six months.”

After the couple returned from their travels they moved down south and so Michelle’s mum helped out with some the of arrangements for the big day, “My mum did most of the running around to look at venues and meet with other people who were part of the day,” she explains. “Living 300 miles away was probably the most difficult thing about planning the wedding as it was quite hard to co-ordinate everything.”

The lead up to the big day can be a stressful for any bride but Michelle had an  added pressure with her groom-to-be being stuck on the other of the world, “The weeks leading up to the wedding were touch and go because David was stranded across the Atlantic due to the volcanic ash! However it didn’t stop him, he managed to get back the week of the wedding, even if his friends thought it was an excuse!” laughs Michelle.

Michelle and David’s day went smoothly and everyone had a wonderful time at the reception, “After the ceremony we spent some time on the beach taking photographs while the guests enjoyed canapés and drinks at Lochside House,” Michelle explains. “Late on in the evening after some dancing, the guests enjoyed fish and chips served in traditional newspaper cones before gathering outside by the Loch to set off Chinese lanterns.”

The Entertainment...
David and Michelle ensured that their guests had as wonderful a time as they did at their wedding and arranged some amazing entertainment. A steel band made sure that everyone enjoyed a dance and, later in the evening, the wedding party let off Chinese paper lanterns.

The Bridesmaid...
Michelle’s bridesmaid Caroline was a great help in planning the wedding and wore a chocolate brown strapless dress which contrasted perfectly with Michelle’s gown.

The Flowers...
Michelle went for a beautiful white bouquet and the church was decorated with gorgeous peonies, hydrangeas and roses. The men wore pale pink roses as buttonholes.

Wow…That dress!
Michelle went for a figure hugging dress with a single floral shoulder strap. The bottom of the gown flowed out into a train with floral detailing and the outfit was completed with a dramatic long veil and some simple stud earrings.
