Lisa & Gregor- "Just before walking up the aisle l started to get butterflies and couldn’t stop smiling!”

Date: 12th August
Venue: Moorpark House Hotel, Kilbirnie

Lisa and Gregor met in a local pub where Gregor  worked and soon  the couple were inseparable. Soon after, Lisa moved to Cape Town, “We decided to try long distance,” Lisa says. “After three years of travelling back and forth, Gregor came to visit me. We were sitting in a quiet little café having breakfast and he got down on one knee, produced this gorgeous pink box and took my hand. He told me he hated us being so far apart and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me! I, of course, cried and said YES!”

Choosing the wedding dress can be one of the most difficult parts of planning a wedding. “I will never forget the look on my dad’s face when he saw me in my dress,” says Lisa. “I had been looking for my dress for months and with very little success. I went dress shopping with my parents, we were in the shop for over an hour and I didn’t like anything I had tried on. I was feeling rather deflated when my dad offered to help and a few seconds later he handed me a dress to try on, it wasn’t what I was originally looking for but I was willing to try anything and it was a perfect fit! When I walked out to show my parents I remember seeing my dad’s face and I knew straight away that this was the one!
I looked in the mirror and couldn’t believe it but I loved it!”

It is easy to get bogged down in what other people will think about your wedding but Lisa says not to panic, “Remember, it is your day so you should do it your way, not everyone is going to like the flowers you picked or the music you chose but if you are doing what makes you happy then that is all that matters!”

The Bridesmaids…
Lisa’s three bridesmaids wore white knee-length strapless dresses with Champagne coloured satin sash belts.

The Flowers…
The bridesmaids’ bouquets were bright and super-summery, containing hot pink gerberas and pink hydrangeas. Lisa also did a traditional bouquet-toss.

The First Dance...
After struggling to choose their wedding song, the  couple found an acoustic version of Florence and the Machine’s You’ve Got The Love.

Wow…that dress!
It took Lisa a long time to pick the right dress and eventually she chose a beautiful floor-length white gown and long veil and added a floral hair decoration.
