Laura & Martin - "l wasn’t nervous because l was walking down the aisle to marry my best friend"
Date: 27th May
Venue: Western House Hotel, Ayr
Martin took Laura totally by surprise with his proposal, “Martin arranged a romantic dinner with Champagne,” Laura explains. “I came home to a candlelit house with more Champagne where he got down on one knee and proposed. I cried when I had found out that he had asked my dad for my hand in marriage, it’s something I’d always hoped he would do. I couldn’t believe my mum and dad had managed to keep it secret for six weeks!”
The couple then set about making wedding plans and Laura had no trouble at all when it came to deciding on the all important dress, “I used to drive past the dress when it was in the window display of a local wedding shop and dream that one day it would be mine, I actually almost crashed one day because I was staring at it so much! As soon as I got engaged I booked an appointment and it was love at first sight. I tried on a few more dresses after it but nothing compared, I absolutely loved it and it felt ‘so me’.”
Other decisions were a little more tricky, “I felt really spoiled for choice and coming to final decisions was difficult for me, apart from that I found the whole planning experience exciting and enjoyable and everything seemed to just fall into place easily!” Laura tells us. “My mum and Martin’s mum were the biggest help and went above and beyond what I could ever have hoped for. They helped with everything from making the invitations to keeping me organised (which is no mean feat) and ensured that no detail was overlooked, it was because of them our day ran so smoothly and was totally stress free for us.”
The Flowers...
Laura went for a peony rose bouquet while her bridesmaids carried elegant bunches of white hydrangeas.
The Bridesmaids...
Laura and Martin went for a timeless black and white colour scheme and so the bridesmaids wore floor-length black one-shouldered gowns.
The Centre Pieces...
The centrepieces of pearls draped over candelabras contributed to the wedding’s classic and timeless theme.
Wow… that dress!
Laura knew exactly what dress she wanted and went for a strapless gown with a fitted body and long flowing train. She accessorised her look with an elegant veil, floral hair decoration and some simple pearls.
